considered.Position Description SummaryThe Department of Mechanical
and Aerospace Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied
Science at the George Washington University invites applications
for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant
Professor, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2025. We seek
candidates with expertise at the intersection of artificial
intelligence and robotics, including but not limited to theory and
applications in machine learning, perception, planning,
manipulation, and autonomous systems.Specific Duties and
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will join a collaborative,
interdisciplinary community with strengths in areas such as dynamic
systems and control theory, AI safety and regulation, and
human-robot interaction. They will also engage with multiple
departments within the School of Engineering & Applied Science and
across the university, including the School of Medicine and Health
Sciences, GW Hospital, and the GW Trustworthy AI initiative, to
foster synergistic research collaborations. We welcome candidates
with the potential to enhance the curriculum in AI and
robotics.Minimum QualificationsAll applicants must have an earned
doctorate in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related
field. ABD candidates will be considered but must complete all
degree requirements for the doctorate by the date of the
appointment. Applicants must demonstrate the potential for superior
teaching and for attracting externally funded research.Advertised
