20008Brief Description of Duties: The Assistant Director of Career
Services is responsible for collaborating on the development,
planning, management and administration of all career services,
recruitment and professional development activities for students
and graduates of UDC Law. The Assistant Director will report to the
Director of Career Services. The ideal candidate will be
self-driven, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious, with a
demonstrable work ethic and desire to learn, a compassionate desire
to help students, and an enthusiastic commitment to the mission of
an HBCU Law School.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsel students and alumni in all phases of career development
and employment search strategies.
- Review cover letters, resumes, and other career-related student
and alumni materials.
- Develop and run a wide range of programs for students and
alumni including job search skills, and practice area
seminars.
- Assist in maintaining the job/internship database,
Simplicity.
- Develop on-campus recruiting events, including on-campus
interviewing and resume collect activities.
- Assist in developing and overseeing programming for
students.
- Assist in developing marketing strategies to a wide range of
potential employers and strengthen ties to existing employers.
- Develop strategies to strengthen relations with alumni.
- Develop career development reference materials; expand the
on-line library and maintain web pages.
- Manage and develop off-campus recruiting programs including
consortium events.
- Continuously learn about career-related matters, including new
developments in application processes and technologies and the
shifting landscape of careers and job markets.Other Duties:
- Assist in all administrative responsibilities including, but
not limited to, job postings, reciprocity requests, all career and
other surveys (NALP, ABA, etc.).
- Participate in UDC committees as necessary.
- Participate in local, regional, and national legal recruitment
associations and other professional associations.Minimum Job
Requirements:
- A Juris Doctor degree (JD) from an accredited law school in the
United States is preferred, but not required. Experience working
within legal or law school environments is strongly
preferred.Information to Applicant:Condition of Employment: This is
a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment
is subject to grant fund availability.Collective Bargaining Unit
(Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining
