Job Description:

This position assists the Senior Chemist in providing innovative solutions for products to exceed customer needs through new product development, incremental product development, sustaining product integrity, new or improved test development, and data analysis through experiment design and research. This position will research, prepare, evaluate, and characterize formulations supporting technical activities. In addition to these duties, the position will be responsible for lab organization and taking charge of equipment maintenance scheduling to prevent downtime.

Essential Functions:

• Maintains lab organization, supplies inventory, safety, and instrument calibrations
• Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment for testing various formulations
• Tests formulations and communicates results to senior chemists
• Maintains chemical inventory and observes proper chemical waste procedures
• Performs regular sample testing for long-term experiments
• Provides customer service in the form of timely sample shipment and communication with the internal customer service and logistics functions
• Investigates customer complaints related to material issues and assists in the investigation for a solution
• Supports scale-up/manufacturing via raw material shipment and quality control
• Other duties and projects as assigned Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemicals or Materials Engineering, or related field; Associate's degree; or High School Diploma/GED
    • Bachelor's degree: formulating lab experience and testing relevant material
    • Associate's degree: 1-2-year experience formulating lab experience and testing relevant material.
    • High school diploma/GED: 2+ years of formulating lab experience and testing relevant material
    • Proficient computer skills, spreadsheet & word processing skills, intermediate math skills
    • Good communication skills, detailed oriented, team player mentality
    • Polymer processing (extrusion) experience preferred
